Testimonial from one of our Registered Mental Health Nurses

Dear Chelsey,

"I have worked for Dean Healthcare for nearly 6 months now, and I am mainly based with the Gloucester office, however I do cover shifts for the Bristol Office as well. I work full time with Dean Healthcare as an agency Registered Mental Health Nurse.

Working for Dean Healthcare has been the best move I have made as a nurse as far as I am concerned. The flexibility of the shifts means that I can spend time with my children when I want to, and work around this. It also means I can choose where and when I work, which gives me the freedom to live my life without being constrained by other people’s annual leave, and service needs. This also means I can go home to Australia whenever I need to, something I was not able to do when working for the NHS. They also pay for my annual leave!

There is tons of support in relation to developing my clinical practice, with free training courses and support galore. The Head of Clinical Care, Amanda Lay, is supportive and approachable, and I feel her advice is grounded in pragmatic and clinically relevant ways. It’s rare to find a Head of Clinical Care who you still feel is a nurse and knows the realities of your day to day work.

The staff in the Gloucester office are second to none. When you are offered a shift in a unit you have not been to before, they take the time to discuss the number of people in the unit, the type of care provided, and try to match a unit to your skills. You are not just a number filling a vacancy, there is real thought in matching the right nurse to the right unit. The thing I also love is that everyone from the Manager, Chelsey, to Kirsty, Claire, and Emily all take an interest in me as a person. They are all simply fab!

I also like to feel I am working for an ethical employer. The fact that they support Dean Farm Trust is really important to me. Having  animal loving daughters has an impact on this. Working for Dean Healthcare, with their ethical record, also means that my 10 year old daughter is impressed – hard to do for a Dad these days! Lily thinks it is cool that I work for them – thanks to their ethics."

Best Wishes,
